IPSL are looking for a permanent DBA Analyst with high level technical expertise.

Hours & Location
The hours will be 35hrs Monday to Friday with some flexibility on start and finish times. 

There will be a requirement to be able to be part of the 24x7 On-Call rota.

Initially, because of COVID, the role will be full time working from home, but this will change when it is safe to do so. When the COVID measures have been lifted the role will be based in the Northampton office and you must be able to travel daily into the office. 
Overview 
Reporting to the Technical Lead in the SQL DBA Infrastructure Team, the purpose of the role is to provide technical expertise for the day to day activities within the SQL DBA Infrastructure Team.  Supporting long term stability, currency and discipline of Infrastructure Services across the iPSL estate.  These technologies include Microsoft SQL Server (All versions), IBM DB2, SentryONE, Stored Procedure Optimisation & SQL Security Patching. They will be providing support and technical expertise in order that contingency plans are maintained and tested in line with the iPSL’s Business Continuity processes.


Knowledge/Skills Required
The successful candidate will need to have a good level of SQL knowledge, especially in the following; Always On availability groups, server installation and configuration, server database design, server capacity planning and server clustering, as well as having good SQL server database performance tuning capability. They will also need good root cause analysis and problem solving skills. This person must be able to build strong working relationships across all technology teams and also within the team enhancing the technical knowledge needs of the SQL DBA Infrastructure Team to mitigate risk of single point of knowledge and aid retention of key staff at all levels.

Key Requirements for this Role

1.    SQL high availability including clustering and Always On
2.    SQL Server Performance tuning
3.    Database backup and restore strategy
4.    Azure Technologies – Automation, Database, Security & Reporting.
5.    SSIS and SSRS
