The Council is looking for two new Environmental Health Officers to join their teams, specialising in Housing and Property, and Environmental Protection respectively

Role Overview:

Housing and Property

A strong team player, with a keen interest in housing conditions you will contribute to the efficient and effective performance of the Housing Renewal Team.

You will deal with the full range of housing matters including responding to enquiries and complaints, carrying out investigations and inspections of private sector housing, including Houses in Multiple Occupation, serve notices and take other enforcement action where necessary.

You will also deal with complaints of harassment and illegal eviction under the provisions the Protection from Eviction Act 1977.

Environmental Protection

You will work in the Environmental Protection Team who cover a wide range of service areas including; statutory nuisance; public health; environmental crime; the dog warden service; contaminated land; air quality management; industrial pollution control and private water supplies.

You will be responsible for investigating statutory nuisance complaints and responding to planning and licensing consultations.

You must have working knowledge and understanding of the nuisance provisions of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and knowledge of Licensing and Planning legislation.

About you:

It is essential that you have a degree (or equivalent) in Environmental Health and you must be a member of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
