This is a new Senior Leadership role which demonstrates Metro Banks’ commitment to investing in our colleagues to ensure that the experience they have working at Metro Bank matches the quality experience our customers receive and that our workforce represents the communities we serve at all levels.

The purpose of the role is to shape and drive the leadership and inclusion agenda to effect demonstrable change over a 3 year time horizon, to ensure that we create a fully diverse, engaged and unified organization, leveraging our unique culture and values.

So what would I be doing?

• The role holder will work closely with the CPO, the People Team and the Executive Team to develop and deliver a multi-year strategy for colleague experience; inclusivity and leadership. They will build the capability of leaders and teams to maintain our unique culture where colleagues are highly engaged, and everyone’s contribution is heard and valued.

• Design and implement a multi-year inclusivity and diversity strategy which enables the bank to represent the communities in which we operate at all levels and in all parts of the business.

• Build on our ‘community bank’ purpose to build internal culture and engagement

• Develop, and be responsible for the diversity & inclusion strategy with clear milestones which we can hold ourselves accountable by measuring success. Drive interventions and programmes which embed changes to people processes and systems with a focus on inclusion, and diversity where everyone feels they have an important role to play in success. 

• Develop our amazing community networks to support the strategy and positively participate in and influence change. Ensure each network Chair is supported and that the networks have objectives linked not only to their communities but to align with our purpose and add value to the business.

• Develop and own strategic partnerships with 3rd party organisations to ensure leading thinking is incorporated into Metro Bank’s activities and that we are continued to be recognized externally for our progressive approaches

• Accountable for leading, designing and implementing a refreshed approach to leadership, including clear expectations and development at appropriate levels; identify core competencies and behaviours for leadership and management

• Steward the talent identification and succession management process to develop careers more purposefully across the bank and develop talent pipelines for critical roles. Including an inclusive model of talent identification and recognition, continually assess the effectiveness of talent processes and challenge them to be more effective, inclusive, transparent and More Metro (user friendly)

• Be mindful of, and manage the risks associated with both the diversity & inclusion and leadership development agendas.

• Build tools for leaders and individuals to be able to assess progress, ensuring they are accessible and easy to use

• Ensure that all People processes and ‘journeys’ are consistent with the standards and culture Metro Bank is working to create

• Provide advice, challenge and consultancy to the Executive Committee in building our Community Bank of the future

• Report metrics to demonstrate progress and value

 

Who are my customers?

 

You will engage with a variety of customers and stakeholders, such as;

•  People Team; People Partners and People Leadership Team

•  Executive Committee

•  Board and Board Committees as required

•  Community Network Chairs and Committees, along with their Exec sponsors

•  Leaders across the business

 

What skills and experience will I needs to be successful?

 

• Experience designing and delivering inclusion and diversity strategy, interventions and programs to deliver positive impact

• Experience developing approaches to leadership development, talent management, building talent pipelines and succession planning

• Experience of leading demonstrable change

• Experience working with and influencing Executive Committee

• Experience working in a high performing People Leadership Team

• Ability to facilitate, coach and present confidently at senior level both internally and externally

• Ability to quickly establish personal credibility and impact, building effective and lasting relationships

•  Demonstrate high levels of resilience, empathy and emotional intelligence
