This is an exciting opportunity to support a project funded by Coventry's City of Culture 2021. This project explores the unique and exceptional role of Coventry and the Midlands in the foundation of the British Black Art Movement (BAM) in the 1980s. This project will celebrate this legacy via workshops, a conference and a working group engaging local BAME artists and academics. This project is a collaboration with the Herbert Gallery & Museum and Coventry-based Maokwo.
The role will be based in the Centre for Arts, Memory and Communities. The Centre is home to a community of scholars in the fields of Curatorial Studies, Exhibitions Histories, Material and Cultural Studies, Practice Research and Artistic Research.

The successful candidate will have a good understanding of Black studies, history, heritage, art and culture..

Main Duties and Responsibilities

1.Offer day-to-day project delivery support to the Principal Investigators (PI) .

2.Support project initiation by compiling project work package data

3.Monitor all project activity against the work programmes and produce regular status reports for the project team..

4.Maintain an in-depth knowledge of funder organisations detailed terms and conditions. Ensure that these are communicated initially and at key review points to internal stakeholders, especially any key issues in relation to current projects.

5.Work in collaboration with the Research Excellence Unit to contribute to the REF submission process by ensuring that potential impact data and research outputs achieved through the funded research projects are collected.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Experience of research project delivery

MA degree or completing in a related field of study (e.g. Humanities, Art and Culture, Art History, Cultural History, Anthropology, Material Cultures, Sociology) or equivalent experience.

Good writing ability, including the ability to proofread/edit documents

Excellent team working skills.

Excellent self-management skills and the ability to plan your own workload.

A flexible approach to work - must be prepared to work outside standard hours.

Tact, diplomacy and the ability to maintain confidentiality
