You will be responsible for delivering plans that deliver medically differentiated therapies that provide meaningful improvement to patients.

As a strategic thinker, you will participate in shaping the progress of Clinical Development (CD) moving forward.  With your expertise within Ophthalmology, you will also take responsibility for the development and successful execution of the CD plan for assigned molecules and indications.

Within this key strategic role, your actions will help shape the future of Ophthalmology and will have a direct impact on patients’ lives.

Skills, Experience & Abilities:

  • Medically qualified with clinical experience in ophthalmology required; proficiency in vitreoretinal surgery and/or anterior segment surgery (i.e., glaucoma or cornea) is preferred.  
  • Academic/teaching background would be preferred, particularly in teaching ophthalmic surgery
  • Experience with clinical trials would be an advantage
  • Experience publishing results of a clinical drug trial in a peer-reviewed journal
  • Familiar with competitive activity in the field
  • In-depth knowledge of and experience with medical aspects of GCP (Good Clinical Practice), ICH (International Conference on Harmonisation of Technical Requirements for Registration of Pharmaceuticals for Human Use), FDA, EMEA, NICE and other relevant guidelines and regulations
  • An understanding of Phase II – III drug development
  • Broad experience in the principles and techniques of data analysis, interpretation and clinical relevance (e.g., ISS, ISE, competitor data, etc.)
  • Experience authoring a global clinical development plan
  • Experience of serving as a medical monitor would be desirable, but not essential
  • Comprehensive understanding of product and safety profiles
  • Experience submitting an NDA/BLA to regulatory authorities in Europe and/or the U.S. would be an advantage
  • Ability to working successfully with remote teams, with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated success and appetite for producing contributions as a team member, as well as team leadership with effective delegation skills
  • Impeccable ethics.
  • Ability to evaluate, interpret & synthesize scientific data, and to verbally present and critically discuss clinical trial data in internal and external meetings
  • Ability to collaborate and work in a cross-functional environment
