We are currently recruiting for SEN Teaching Assistants to work in Primary schools in the Penzance – Camborne area. We are discussing with schools about what their students’ needs will be when returning to school and many schools have mentioned needed additional SEN Teaching Assistant to work on a 1:1 basis with students.

The ideal candidate will have experience with SEN or Challenging behaviour whether this be in a school or social care environment. Knowledge of the National Curriculum is desired though we are open to candidates who are willing to learn. You will need to have strong behaviour management skills to help the student make the most out of their educational experience. Dedication to helping students achieve to their highest possible standards by being creative with learning and creating different learning opportunities for the students. Strong relationship building skills are important in this role as you will need to build trust quickly with the student who you are working with top help them make the most out of their experience with you. Good communication skills are required for this role as you will need to communicate effectively with the student that you are working with on a 1:1 basis, you may need to try different communication methods to find out what works best for that student. You will also need to communicate with the class teacher and possibly the head and SENCO regarding the student’s progress. If you are working on a long-term basis with a student, you may also be required to communicate with parents /carers regarding the student.

Whilst working on a 1:1 basis with students you will be able to use outdoor learning activities to help students engage with their work and to help them enjoy learning. We are going to have both full time and part time roles become available. We can also offer flexible working hours with an online diary for you to fill out your availability. You will need to be aware of Child Protection, Health and Safety, Behaviour, Teaching and Learning and Equal Opportunities policies.
