Empowering customers to live rewarding and happy lives. That’s when it hits home!

Do you want to use your life skills and experience to empower our vulnerable customers with learning and physical disabilities into greater independence?

Are you currently in a typical care service role where you go door to door or want to deliver care you take pride in? Maybe you fancy a career change being a hero key worker?

If this sounds like you then join our central resource team.

Who are we?

You’ll be the “Swiss army knife” of carers as we provide independent living skills to a wide range of customers across our different services in the Tyneside and Northumberland area. You’ll be flexible as a slinky in your approach and availability.

This could be your foot in the door to the Health and Social care sector with a chance to grow your career. Our team is used as a pipeline for talent within our area. You can be sure that if career progression is what you have in mind, with the support of our management team, you could join the 82% of our colleagues who have secured their ideal position within a service and a role that feels like home.

You will be a mobile worker in CQC services jumping day by day to a different service to cover annual leave, don’t worry you’ll be based in the service for your full shift.

One day you could be working a day shift in one of our Independent Supported Living Services (typically 3 to 4 customers living in a shared property) supporting them in everyday living such as; attending college or cooking up a storm in the kitchen or their chosen social activities. The next day, you could be in our more complex needs services where our care workers (known internally as Supported Living Worker) might be spending the day helping our customer with their personal care allowing them to live within the community (including medication or bathing) and ensuring their aspirations are achieved.

About our teams

You’ll join our outgoing team, full of diverse characters, who are all friendly and helpful with newbies. The Central Services team is led by Stacey, who has worked for Home Group since 2010 when she started as a Support Worker and took full advantage of all the training and experience that the company has to offer. She is supported (and couldn’t do without) our Client Service Manager, Jodie who, as a former member of the CRT, brings a wealth of service knowledge to support the teams. The fabulous Nicole is our Resourcing Coordinator who will look after your shifts and rotas, she can be bribed with a good chocolate biscuit. And finally, Clare, our Business Administrator, who keeps the wheels turning.

Working hours

We need you to be super flexible because you could be working in anyone of our 10 services in the Tyneside and Northumberland area. Don’t worry our excellent rewards scheme means that you can get a travel pass for the Metro and buses via our salary sacrifice scheme. We aim to give you the time you need to spend doing the things that matter to you! You will be working days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Although you won’t have a fixed rota you will have a fixed 5 week rolling rest rota and you will be provided all shifts approximately a month in advance with every other weekend off.

About you

You’re passionate and motivated to help vulnerable people make positive and lasting changes to their lives. You’ll impress us with your ability to work on your own initiative, positively influencing people from all different backgrounds. You will have the opportunity to work alongside our in-house clinicians informing how we support our customers to be as independent as possible. You’ll play your part by assisting in the delivery of tasks that are based on our customers personal support plans, their needs and aspirations.

You will have some experience in safeguarding, risk assessments, confidentiality, support plans, alongside working collaboratively. We help change our customer’s lives for the better.

It would be amazing if you have worked in this type of environment before, however it’s your “can do” positive attitude and enthusiasm that are critical to make this role a success.

We can nurture your talent, just let us know in your cover letter why you have a passion for working here! Experience in providing physical assistance to help wash, (shower or bath) dress, toilet and other.

If you are successful for the role you will complete a 4-week induction which will include all necessary training for your role including Safe handling Medication and Moving and Handling. We can also offer you to complete your Care Certificate, if you don’t already hold a qualification in health and Social Care.

If you’re not the biggest fan of technology, that’s not a problem to us. You do need to know that we are quite a high-tech company and most of our application process and mandatory learning are online. However, we’re glad to support you, if you need help.

When you join, you’ll need to have a valid Enhanced Check under the Disclosure and Barring Service. The great news is that we will pay for that to be done if you don’t have a transferrable one.
