About the Team
BIS are a growing team of 40+ Developers, Analysts and Project Managers responsible for providing the business with data solutions. Historically, an on premise MS SQL Server based tech stack we are now providing cloud based data and analytical tools using Microsoft’s Azure platform.
About the Role
With line management and coaching responsibility for a squad of Developers and Analysts, the PM will oversee all aspects of project delivery to ensure success. As part of the department leadership team PM’s are expected to contribute significantly to the overall success of the team through strategic insights and operational improvements.
Another large part of the role is responding to the business demands for greater analytical and reporting capabilities as well as specific departmental data solutions so a need for excellent project management credentials gained in a technical environment is paramount.
You’ll identify and validate business requirements as well as strategic business drivers whilst overseeing budgets, estimating and billing for all project resources used. You’ll provide timely and effective communication on progress or issues and will agree appropriate design standards, methods and tools to ensure they are applied.
Ensuring quality and governance processes are followed is also part of this role, ensuring that Next standards are met whilst actively managing all risks, issues and key decisions within the projects

Criteria
Essential
- Technical project management
- Team/line management of technical heads
- Stakeholder management
- Experience of working with data/databases
- Knowledge of BI fundamentals incl Dimensional Modelling/Data Warehousing
- Experience of working with/around data is essential as is a strong grasp of business intelligence fundamentals.
Desirable
- Experience of Agile project management
- Experience of MS SQL Server BI stack (SSIS, SSAS, SSRS)
- Experience of PowerBI or similar e.g. Tableau
- TFS or Azure DevOps
