Job description

HM Coastguard (HMCG) is the operational arm of the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) with responsibility for 6 key functions - Search and Rescue, Pollution Response, Vessel Traffic Management, Maritime Safety, Maritime Security and Emergency and Disaster management.

This role will be responsible and accountable for the design, script, build and test of online and offline quality digital learning solutions within HMCG and other digitally delivered training, such as virtual classrooms. Defining and driving digital learning standards that ensure outputs are consistent and are of a high quality. Identifying innovative approaches that will improve the digital learning we can offer. Line managing the Junior Instructional Designer and project managing internal and external digital learning developments. Accountable to the Senior Instructional Designer, Head of Technical Training and Development and Senior Officers Group (SOG).
 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities but not limited to

- Leading on design, scripting, building and testing of high quality digital learning materials using a range of different approaches and development tools including interactive e-learning, animated videos and videos

- Completing training needs analysis with relevant areas of HMCG to define and design appropriate approaches

- Managing Subject Matter Expert (SME) relationships and managing facilitated sessions to ensure content is appropriate

- Building and directing virtual classroom sessions, creating a professional experience that supports the trainer and engages the learner

- Researching and recommending new approaches for digital learning delivery based on new technical developments as they occur

- Project managing internal and external digital learning developments.

- Managing reporting requirements, ensuring robust reporting data is available as required.

About you

To be successful you will need to be someone who has excellent interpersonal skills, being able to communicate complex and sometimes technical information to others so it is easy to understand.

You can work effectively to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple workstreams, managing your time efficiently to produce work to a high standard.

You enjoy engaging with others at all levels, being able to maintain and build strong working relationships with others through various digital technologies.


Additional information

We are following current government guidelines and working remotely, if successful you will be provided with IT equipment to carry out your duties remotely. Once we can return to office, you will be provided with full notice.

Due to the nature of this role there will be some travel involved which will occur once a month, of which will include some overnight stays. If successful you will be based in your nearest MCA office.

N.B as there will be travel involved, you will need to hold a full valid driving licence
