The Role

Due to increased workload we are seeking to recruit a HV Electrical Engineer for our Power Major Projects Team. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the delivery of Substation Primary Plant designs for a variety of clients with Voltages ranging from 11kV to 400kV whilst providing support to other Engineers / Departments within Power Major Projects.

In a typical week you will:

  • Create project design intent documents and project specific design risk assessments with an understanding of CDM regulations and Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Coordinate the primary design with other disciplines and departments, including external sub consultancies.
  • Define substation primary plant to meet the client's requirements.
  • Produce Busbar & Connector Schedules and liaising with manufacturers.
  • Produce Busbar Electro-Mechanical calculations to client requirements.
  • Understand earthing studies and creating earthing designs to suit a variety of conditions.
  • Interface with site personnel for the installation works and resolving installation issues.
  • Review and verify 3rd party designs, calculations etc.



We want to hear from you if:

  • You have UK design experience of Distribution or Transmission substations

  • You have a relevant Engineering Degree or similar
  • You have drivers license and can travel to sites across the UK
  • You have the ability to work towards professional registration
  • You have an understanding of single line diagrams so as to produce substation layout designs, detailing all primary plant and electrical clearances.
  • You have an understanding of UK specifications and client specifications.
