The team

The Onboarding & Customer Communications team is a fun dynamic team who are at the forefront of transforming & digitising the Group Retail Bank across mobile, branch, telephony, and internet banking. The transformation culture within Onboarding & Customer Communications lives by is to empower its teams to build dynamic environments using agile methodology, including scrum, ultimately providing outstanding customer experiences; and by driving innovative technology solutions.

We're building capabilities to personalise our digital experiences, unlocking our rich customer and behavioural data to deliver individual experiences when customers interact with our apps and websites.

Who you are?

A hardworking Android Engineer with good technical experience in Android mobile development. You'll enjoy working with the Strategy and UX/UI Design teams as well as customer organisations to architect, design, and implement solutions. Be passionate for contributing to the team's work of driving the technology and future of the platform and exploring up-and-coming technologies and software products; seize learning and knowledge-sharing opportunities.

Required

  • Excellent Native Mobile Development in Android (Kotlin)
  • Development and delivery of Android mobile apps
  • Experience in releasing mobile apps on the Google Play Store
  • Unit-test code for robustness, usability, and general reliability
  • Excellent communication skills: collaborate with multi-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
  • Understanding of Native Hybrid Apps & communication between web and app

We're looking with experience on 3rd Party SDKs integration with great understanding of code versioning tool Git and familiarity with RESTful APIs to connect applications to back-end services. If you have ability to understand business requirements and translate them into technical requirements and hands-on experience of continuous delivery that would be welcome.

Nice to have

  • Understanding of basic App architectures
  • Source Control Management (BitBucket, Mercurial)
  • Creating and managing frameworks in a modular codebase
  • Knowledge of unit testing using Quick/Nimble
  • Experience of reviewing other developers' code and scripting languages, e.g. Ruby
  • PromiseKit, Jenkins, Fastlane

It would be desirable if your familiar with Agile principles and methodologies and usage of related tools - JIRA and Confluence.

Salary and Benefits package: £50, 130 - £64, 290 base salary (dependent on location), plus excellent benefits including a 4% flex cash pot to spend on benefits (or take as cash), generous employer pension contribution up to 15%, 30 days holiday entitlement plus bank holidays, discretionary variable annual performance bonus and private medical health cover, share schemes and access to staff discounts!
