Within Data Technology & Analytics, the Platform Operations team is responsible for the build, support, security, automation and infrastructure cost management for our Google Cloud Platform.

We require a Cloud Engineer to Join our team to build, monitor and implement cost optimisation across our GCP estate. Infrastructure changes are just the start of our journey, and as we move towards more cloud native technologies, you will become the subject matter expert in helping define the best optimisations for these respurces working with our internal and external partners.

You will:

Be the point of contact within DTA for any cost optimisation changes required on the GCP platform. You will be as confident at the command line making low level changes as you are at presenting results and knowledge sharing with the wider Engineering functions.

- Have the technical ability to make changes independently of other Platform teams

- Identify and facilitate opportunities to optimise, reduce cost and build plans to realise the savings with our partners within Sky

- Work with current squads and engineering teams to advise on cost, capacity and forecasting through our route to live

- Come up with new ways to solve complex problems and complete projects and tasks

- Have the drive to learn new technologies and apply those accordingly

You'll have:

- A working understanding of Ansible & Terraform

- An understanding of best practice on Cloud Infrastructure

- Automate templating of Virtual Machines, Storage and DataSets in a Cloud environment

- Automate applying storage lifecycle policy's across storage and BigQuery

- Knowledge or experience of tuning SQL workloads would be advantageous

- Knowledge of Capacity Management and Performance monitoring principles

- Contribute to a DevOps culture of collaboration, communication and automation
