If so, we are looking for a Deputy Finance Business Partner to join us at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, and we’d love to hear from you.

Job description

You will be providing direct support to the Finance Business Partner (FBP) Reporting and FBP UK maritime Services (UKMS) and UK Maritime Business Development (UKMBD), and working closely with colleagues and stakeholders to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of financial data for Senior Management.

This is an exciting opportunity to build upon your current financial knowledge whilst contributing to the achievement of the Agency’s financial objectives. We are looking for someone who can provide high quality analysis of financial and non-financial data, can quickly gain an in-depth working knowledge of UKMS and UKMBD, and build strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
 

Responsibilities

Your duties will include:
• deliver accurate and timely information to the FBP UKMS/UKMBD to fulfil their role on management boards
• attend management boards and stakeholder meetings in replacement of the FBP or alongside
• analyse and model financial and non-financial data to determine trends, correlations and other statistical information which impact on business decisions
• work collaboratively with the FBPs Reporting and UKMS/UKMBD in compiling annual budgets and spending review submissions
• work collaboratively with FBPs Reporting and UKMS/UKMBD to deliver accurate and timely information on monthly accruals and forecasts
• responsible for undertaking weekly routines within Agresso, including exception reports. To recognise trends and patterns in the data and engage with relevant business area to resolve issues
• responsible for compiling monthly debtor reports and liaise with UKMS/UKMBD FBP and Financial Operations to manage debt, income recognition and levels of accrued income

About you -

We are looking for someone with a background in finance and reporting, with demonstrable experience in financial management, cost analysis and management information, who can provide high quality financial analysis and recommendations to support business objectives. You will bring advanced Excel skills and the ability to manipulate and analyse data sets with accuracy and efficiency.

You work well as part of a team as well as under your own initiative, able to effectively manage and prioritise multiple work streams whilst producing work that is accurate and to a high standard. You have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, able to build lasting, positive working relationships and influence colleagues and stakeholders at all levels, including Directors and Senior Managers.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
