It's the role of our Chief Information Office (CIO) to provide the backbone / infrastructure upon which this bank operates. This technical SME role will be pivotal in expanding and enhancing existing technologies, integration and optimisation of the toolsets, taking a lead in incidents whilst ensuring that our customers both internal and external are protected.

The Firewall team is responsible for protecting and securing the edge points of ingress and egress from the group's core infrastructure. Whether that's protecting the group from malicious attacks, providing connectivity or supporting the growing business needs. We don't just look after the policies that we enforce, but also the underlying infrastructure and as experts in our field we are consulted on widely within the organisation to help drive strategy and diagnose and remediate complex incidents. We focus both on premise and in the cloud, with a multitude of technologies at our disposal.

The team is extremely busy encompassing many technologies & requirements, therefore the candidate should have an in depth knowledge of the technologies to add value from Day 1.

The successful candidate would be expected to lead in specific technology area of firewalls and the processes by which they are operated. This role builds the balance of combining technical development, leading delivering activities and managing a sustainable BAU platform. Your time will be split between shaping the projects requirement solution and providing a robust BAU support platform, including processes and documentation.

This is an operational focussed team so an element of "out of hours" working / support may be required.

 

What about you?

You'll be able to demonstrate most of the following technical capabilities with some to an advanced level.

A broad understanding of multiple Networking technologies. This should include:

  • Check Point R80.x Gateways

  • Check Point MDM Infrastructure

  • Cisco Switching and Routing Networking Infrastructure

  • Cisco ASA Firewalls

  • Other tier 1 vendor firewalls & management infrastructure

  • Technical support and maintenance of security tools

  • Understanding of Controls and Controls testing

  • ServiceNow Incident, Change and problem management

 

Additionally you'll have the capability to identify technical risks, articulate the associated IT costs and business impacts, and propose options for resolution. You'll also be able to identify, analyse and recommend areas for improvement and change within existing processes and procedures and will drive the evaluation and selection and supervise the implementation and testing of new hardware and/or system software.

***There is a degree of flexibility on the location of this role - predominately we're looking for people with the skillsets above. The broad base salary banding across the UK is from £36,400pa to £50,000pa based on experience. Salaries in the London area will be reflected towards the upper end of this bracket***
