Summary

The role of the Insights team is to convert consumer and market information into the concise insights and strategic recommendations that provide Discovery Networks UK with competitive advantage. The Insights Manager, Forecasting is responsible for providing insight and strategic guidance to help Discovery UK hit its commercial targets. Working with the Senior Insights Manager the role will provide the business with insight & audience targets, and track audience delivery across linear, digital and D2C.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Finance & VP, Planning & Insights to ensure revenue targets are converted to actionable audience targets for key teams to work towards & track delivery
  • Use performance and market insight to ensure finance team are fully informed of relevant trends that impact commercial performance
  • Work with key stakeholders to provide pro-active insights that inform planning strategy to maximize the value we extract from content
  • Report on portfolio and market commercial impacts and SOCI performance providing insight into trends
  • Own the UK audience target setting process for the programme investment process, managing the process, and supporting documents
  • Forecast specific content performance across linear, digital and D2C, and track performance vs targets to ensure ROI targets are met
  • Track performance of all local commissions, and monitor performance vs forecast
  • Forecast and measure the impact of various content windowing strategies across linear, digital and D2C
  • Keep pace of programming trends that drive business outcomes, to identify what is driving success for competitors
  • Provide insights into how we can best exploit emerging macro, technological and content trends
  • Work closely with Analyst and oversee commercial reporting of brand partnership and sponsorship campaigns – both in terms of actual campaign performance and forecasting more complex future campaigns

Requirements

  • Strong experience working in the media industry
  • A passion and understanding of commercial strategy
  • Experience of modelling performance and a grasp of key statistical methods
  • An innovative individual with exceptional analytical skills and a keen eye for detail
  • Strong grasp of media metrics across traditional and digital platforms
  • Proven project management skills and an ability to lead others and work across departments
  • A lateral thinker who can identify opportunities, understand consumer motivations and challenge the status quo
  • Strong presentation skills, able to present information and data in a clear and engaging way/someone who is able to communicate insights at the highest level and engage a wide range of people in debate
  • Strong written skills – producing concise and engaging reports
  • Ability to plan, prioritise and complete work accurately within tight deadlines
