Benefits Advice Project Lead

You will be working for a mental health charity, who make sure anyone with a mental health problem has somewhere to turn for advice and support; in total over 20,000 people in Oxfordshire access services each year.
Position: Benefits Advice Project Lead
Location: Oxford
Salary: £28,672.39 - £32,233.70 (SCP 24-28) per annum
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week. (reduced hours may be considered)
Closing Date: Sunday 13th June (midnight)
About the role:
As Project Lead you will be working as part of a Mental Health service offering Welfare Benefits Advice and support to people across Oxfordshire. The service provides open access/self-referrals, support via workers embedded in Adult Mental Health Teams (AMHT) and inpatient wards and supports people from Benefit ‘health checks’ through to appeal and support to tribunal.
The Project Lead (BBMH) will work closely with the Wellbeing Service Manager (Projects) to:
- Lead a team of 3 Benefit Advisors to deliver an excellent advice service, incorporating best practice.
- Take an active role in the Wellbeing Extended Management Team.
- Ensure excellent liaison, communication and collaborative working with the wider organisation and partnership agencies.
- Develop and maintain strong links with the community and utilise this to develop service provision appropriate to the local context.
- Represent the organisation in external meetings and the wider community.
About you:
If you are caring, understanding, and have a passion for supporting others then this role is for you! You will also need to bring with you the following skills and experience:
- Experience of line managing staff and leading a project
- Experience of successful partnership working in service delivery
- Experience of working in an often demanding environment
- Experience of data collection and reporting to measure outcomes and service impact
- Knowledge and understanding of mental health issues
- Excellent organisational, planning, administrative and IT skills
- Strong commitment to the involvement of people who use services, social inclusion, recovery and partnership working
- Understanding of best practice in safeguarding adults and children
Although not essential knowledge and understanding of Welfare Benefits systems would be an advantage for this role
