About Amey

Do you have estimating experience in civil engineering works for water industry projects.?

Here at Amey we have an opportunity for an experienced Estimator who can support the project team through Client Gateway approval and handover to delivery.

You will need a strong background in estimating for Water Industry projects and knowledge of common construction techniques. You will develop and maintain strong relationships internally, across the supply chain and with SW's Estimating Team. You will be responsible for establishing robust target costs used to set subsequent budgets for project delivery.

This role can be undertaken remotely with regular site visits across Scotland.

What will the role involve?

  • Review of handover information to identify any shortfalls required to support the Estimating process
  • Undertake site visits and meetings as required to help establish scope
  • Liaise with the wider team and designers as required (Programme compliance, design issues, construction techniques etc)
  • Identify the Target Cost inputs and develop Estimating Proforma's in line with SW EES requirements
  • Produce first principle estimates to validate EES outputs
  • Review SW EES outputs and identify any shortfalls
  • Liaise with SW Estimating Team on pricing reviews and negotiations
  • Collaborate and support the civil estimator on combined project scopes
  • Present estimates for approval to Senior Management Team
  • Contribute to Risk Identification and Mitigation throughout estimating phase
  • Produce or contribute to tender stage delivery programmes

What are we looking for?

  • Experience across a range of multi-disciplined (MEICA & Civil) engineering works on Clean and Wastewater projects ranging in value from £20k - £2m
  • Knowledge of common construction techniques
  • Demonstrated track record in estimating from first principles for water industry projects
  • Knowledge and understanding of MEICA estimating norms
  • Knowledge of standard specifications including CESWI and Sewers for Scotland.
  • Commercial awareness
  • IT literate with working knowledge of MS Project an advantage
  • Valid driving license
  • Experience of SW Cost Based Solutions models and EES System an advantage
  • Delivery experience on similar work streams
  • Knowledge of NEC3 Contracts (lump sum and target cost)
  • Knowledge of MEICA installations associated with Clean and Wastewater Installations
  • Knowledge of SW Supply Chain Frameworks and Governance Processes an advantage
