We are currently recruiting for a Site Facilities Operative who will form part of our Facilities team at Brighton University. This role provides an effective, responsive, customer focused maintenance service for residents and other relevant stakeholders locally. Within this role you will also assist in providing relevant administrative support to a part of the business, typically including acting as the first point of contact for internal and external customers and other stakeholders.

Our Facilities team are a key function, as a Site Facilities Operative you will be involved in maintaining all areas within the University halls of Residence, typically doing small maintenance repairs as required.  You will also be liaising directly with residents and contractors and answering queries and you must have due regard to health & safety and security issues.

The post holder will work the following shift pattern and on night shifts (+night to 09.00) the post holder will be provided access to the company apartment and will required to stay there on call for that shift.

You should be capable of carrying out a variety of small repair jobs and work effectively as part of a team and under your own initiative.  Trade skills, Gardening or DIY experience would be an advantage

If you don’t have previous experience or qualifications, but are willing to learn, have ambition, enthusiasm, and care about delivering a first-class service we would like to hear from you.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 

You must be a good communicator and be willing to learn new skills, you will often be working alone and therefore need to be able to work on your own initiative and be self-motivated to organise your own time effectively.  You will need to be proactive in your daily activities and aware of safe working practices.

It is an essential requirement that you have a good standard of literacy and it would be desirable if you have IT skills as you will be required to use a PC at times undertaking online courses and assessments. However, this can be learnt on the job during the probationary period.
