Security and Fire Safety Manager

We are looking for a proactive Security and Fire Safety Manager to manage the development and implementation of security and fire safety systems to help ensure appropriate levels of safety and compliance with current legislation.

Position: Security and Fire Safety Manager

Location: Based in Sidmouth, Devon – “an area of outstanding natural beauty”

Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours (part-time considered)

Salary: £33,500 per annum

Contract: Permanent

This increases by one day each year until a maximum of 34 days is reached.

The Role

Working closely with the Health and Safety Manager as a key member of the Estates and Facilities Management (EFM) wider management team, you will provide day-to-day management of activities relating to security and fire safety across the organisation, supporting the development and delivery of excellent health and safety support on all owned and managed premises.

Responsibilities include:

 

  • Fire safety and security across in the UK and Ireland, auditing all sites to measure levels of fire safety performance and ensure compliance with current legislation and provide fire safety advice and guidance to employees and managers.
  • Provide support and site training for nominated fire wardens including, fire evacuation drills, fire alarm testing, incident reporting and develop systems for the retention of fire safety related documentation such as fire risk assessments, incident reports, COSHH sheets, audit reports.
  • Develop and implement security policy, strategy and procedures, lead the management of security for employees travelling to high risk locations overseas assessing risks and implementing contingency measures.
  • The specification, installation, operation and monitoring of CCTV systems and leading internal investigations in the event of security incidents including review of CCTV footage and liaison with the Police.

 

About You

As Security and Fire Safety Manager, you will ideally have experience of managing budgets in accordance with charity requirements and in order achieve a balanced budget at year end. You will have strong leadership skills, as you will be expected in the absence of the Health and Safety Manager, to assume deputising duties as deemed appropriate and relevant as well as assist EFM colleagues in the management, motivation, recruitment, training and development of staff in line with the Charity's strategic aims and objectives.
