PURCHASING ASSISTANT
Our Chesterfield based client is a globally recognised manufacturing business.
They are looking to recruit a Purchasing Assistant to join their existing team with a keen focus to assist the Manager in driving efficiency with regard to purchasing through the business.
The successful candidate will be experienced in working within a pressurised environment and will enjoy a challenge.
The Role of Purchasing Assistant
Support the Supply Chain Manager (SCM) to coordinate the purchase of materials, services and supply chain activities to ensure production flow, schedule commitments and quality standards are met.
Assures compliance to all company policies and government regulations.
Health and Safety, quality and environmental compliance are key areas of responsibility within this role.
Work closely with the finance team to ensure smooth flow of information.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Will include but may not be limited to:
Raise / expedite purchase orders
Liaise with suppliers to maintain purchase order book
Update JDE system with latest PO delivery dates
Update in-transit log with latest shipment details
Manage non-stock inventory (Consumables / Tooling / Stationery)
Work to maintain departmental KPI's
Ensure compliance with quality procedures
Ensure compliance with environmental procedures
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Must be highly organised and self-motivated
Knowledge of stock control
Excellent communication skills at all levels
Good understanding of JDE or similar systems
Must be able to work in fast paced, pressurised environment
Must be able to work well within a team environment
Knowledge of continuous improvement principles
Good computer skills including excel (pivot tables etc.), word
This is a permanent part time position with a global manufacturing business
The hours are to cover both Mondays and Thursdays and a further day to suit the successful applicant
