Job description

The Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) has started an ambitious IT transformation programme that will deliver improved capability across an expanded IT workforce. We aim to improve all technology services whilst supporting the wider business on its transformation requirements and ensuring IT aligns with their needs.

We are looking for a Delivery Manager to operate within our Southampton-based MCA team. You will be accountable for the delivery of products and services. This role provides you with a fantastic opportunity to support the implementation of the digital, data and technology delivery management strategy. Working collaboratively with stakeholders from across the agency, you will ensure the projects and initiatives they manage, achieve agreed objectives within the time, cost and quality constraints. You will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining teams, ensuring they are motivated, collaborating and working well.

Following a return to the office, this role will involve occasional travel within the MCA office network.
 

Responsibilities

your duties will include but are not limited to:

- Support the implementation of the digital, data and technology delivery management strategy, policies and processes required for the successful delivery of the technology portfolio.
- Manage the IT digital, data and technology portfolio including effective prioritisation of incoming requirements.
- Manage the delivery of MCA's digital, data and technology projects and initiatives, including applications and infrastructure, with a focus on medium-size projects, according to the project allocation priorities set by the Head of Delivery Management;
- Manage and support the relationships with digital, data and technology project sponsors and key stakeholders of the projects they manage, understanding their priorities and demands;
- Ensure that the projects and initiatives they manage achieve agreed objectives within time, cost and quality constraints;
- Track and report progress on allocated projects;
- Apply best-practice project management methods;
- Ensure that realistic project plans are in place and maintained;
- Apply the use of best-practice project management methods;
- Focusing on scope control and changes management;
- Identifying, assessing and managing project risks;
- Managing dependencies with other projects and initiatives within MCA;
- Supporting with escalations of issues within defined project tolerances; otherwise, escalating those issues;


About You

To thrive in this role you will have experience in project delivery and working in an agile environment. Using your exceptional communication and stakeholder engagement skills you can communicate across all levels. You enjoy working collaboratively with different business areas and like the challenge of influencing others to achieve business outcomes. You will have experience in building and maintaining high-performing delivery teams. You will have exceptional verbal and written skills with the ability to tailor these and can do so in a clear, professional and confident manner. You have a keen eye for detail ensuring work is always completed to a high standard.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
