Part-time Tax Manager - Retail Company - Hatfield - Circa GBP50k-GBP70k FTE (pro-rated down for a 2 day or 3 day week)

Robert Walters are hiring for a Part-time in-house Tax Manager for a leading retail company based near to Hatfield in Hertfordshire (with ability to work from home)

This is a newly-created, permanent part-time role - Either 2 days or 3 days per week.

The Tax Manager will be responsible for all the tax affairs of the business inside the UK, covering corporate tax, VAT and indirect tax, employment tax and capital allowances.

The will be a healthy mix of advisory, compliance, project work, reporting and tax business partnering.

Responsibilities include:

- Review of tax opportunities, present to senior management and implement where appropriate

- To ensure timely completion of all tax returns and calculation of payments on account

- Management of Corporation Tax, VAT and PAYE compliance, working with external providers as required

- Be the in-house VAT expert and to ensure the correct and appropriate recording of VAT within the business . Ensure appropriate processes are put in place to ensure VAT is captured at the correct rate

- Ensure the accurate recording of capital allowances that can be claimed by the business . Liaising with the relevant teams within Finance and the wider business to ensure appropriate processes are in place to capture the required information correctly

- Be responsible for the review of the tax and appropriate balance sheet accounts, their preparation, accuracy and accurate resolution on a monthly basis as part of the management accounts process.
- Liaising closely and managing the relationship with HMRC and dealing with any HMRC investigations
- Reviewing legislation changes and writing technical notes on the impacts from a company perspective

- Responsible for ensuring the company is utilising all available tax reliefs, such as the super deduction , R&D etc.

- Continuous engagement on projects including acquisitions, disposals and restructuring

- Year end tax provisioning including deferred tax

- Preparation of the relevant tax notes for the accounts and responsibility for liaising with Ocado Group regarding the consolidated accounts

- Lead and manage the contact with the company auditors
