Location

Multi-location from one of our FSA Offices (Belfast, Cardiff, Birmingham, London or York), or home based in the UK. Please be aware that this role can only be worked within the UK and not overseas. Occasional travel to other FSA offices maybe required, with the possibility of overnight stays.

About the job

The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1300 people, with a big vision – to drive change in the food system so that it delivers “food we can trust”. Our primary goal is to continue to protect public health and consumers’ wider interest in food. As we have now exited the EU the FSA faces a significant period of change and activity.

FSA IT supports the agency’s disaggregated IT Services managing a number of specialist suppliers to deliver new and existing technologies. We are a multi disciplinary team encompassing project and portfolio management, Technical architecture and infrastructure support, Application support, IT Service Management and IT Commercial support.

Job description

The IT Service Management team is responsible for the management, governance and co-ordination of the delivery of services from multiple suppliers to meet the needs of our users.

The FSA’s IT Service Management Application Manager has responsibility for providing management of IT Service Management applications, primarily the FSA’s ServiceNow instance. They will own and manage the FSA ServiceNow instance, providing day-to-day administration including upgrades and security, user administration, database administration, management of the CMDB, support of discovery and data integration, self-service portal and forms / workflows for ITIL processes (e.g. incident, request, change), and production of reports and dashboards.

They will work with the IT service management team and a range of users to gather requirements, and design, develop and implement changes and updates, as well as lead and manage the delivery of this through external suppliers. The post holder will use their experience and understanding to ensure the toolset accurately reflects our robust service management processes and can operate successfully regardless of changes to the service model or suppliers.
 

Responsibilities

Duties include:

• Own the product roadmap for the IT service management applications, supporting FSA IT’s strategy to be Evergreen, defining and prioritising adoption of new functionality to deliver best value from the product and in turn our IT services and contracts.
• Manage the FSA ServiceNow production and non-production instances, ensuring upgrades are planned and maintained to N-1, and that instance security compliance is appropriately maintained.
• Carry out user administration, including management of LDAP integration, automated updates to user data, definitions of roles, groups and access controls.
