About the job

The FSA is a non-ministerial department of over 1300 people, with a big vision – to drive change in the food system so that it delivers “food we can trust”. Our primary goal is to continue to protect public health and consumers’ wider interest in food. As we have now exited the EU the FSA faces a significant period of change and activity.

Local Authority Partnerships plays a key role in developing and maintaining close working relationships and supporting the effective implementation of official controls by local authorities (LA) in Wales including advising LAs in relation to food and animal feed law, the food and feed Law Codes of Practice, the Framework Agreement and centrally issued guidance. These relationships are necessary to ensure the development of FSA policy is informed by the experience of delivery. There is an overall need to ensure consistency in the interpretation and implementation of legislation across Wales. The post holder will be the primary point of contact between the FSA and local authority officers in Wales as well as other Government Departments in relation to imports and exports.

Mae'r Asiantaeth Safonau Bwyd (ASB) yn adran anweinidogol sydd â dros 1300 o aelodau staff, gyda gweledigaeth fawr – sbarduno newid yn y system fwyd er mwyn sicrhau “bwyd y gallwn ymddiried ynddo”. Ein prif nod yw parhau i ddiogelu iechyd y cyhoedd a buddiannau ehangach defnyddwyr y Deyrnas Unedig (DU) mewn perthynas â bwyd. Gan ein bod bellach wedi ymadael â’r Undeb Ewropeaidd (UE), mae'r ASB yn wynebu cyfnod sylweddol o newid a gweithgarwch.

Mae tîm y Bartneriaeth ag Awdurdodau Lleol yn chwarae rhan allweddol wrth ddatblygu a chynnal perthnasoedd gwaith agos a chefnogi awdurdodau lleol yng Nghymru i weithredu rheolaethau swyddogol yn effeithiol. Mae hyn yn cynnwys cynghori awdurdodau lleol mewn perthynas â chyfraith bwyd a bwyd anifeiliaid, y Codau Ymarfer Cyfraith bwyd a bwyd anifeiliaid, y Cytundeb Fframwaith a chanllawiau a gyhoeddir yn ganolog. Mae’r perthnasoedd hyn yn bwysig i sicrhau bod polisïau’r ASB yn cael eu datblygu gan brofiad o gyflenwi. Yn gyffredinol, mae gofyn sicrhau cysondeb wrth ddehongli a gweithredu deddfwriaeth ledled Cymru. Deiliad y swydd fydd y prif bwynt cyswllt rhwng yr ASB a swyddogion awdurdodau lleol yng Nghymru yn ogystal ag Adrannau eraill y Llywodraeth mewn perthynas â mewnforion ac allforion.
