The Category Procurement Manager will work across one of Laing O'Rourke's specialist business units and be based from our head office in Dartford, Kent. However, we are open to other locations as listed above.

In this role you will be responsible for supporting the business growth and project delivery for a specified list of categories of subcontracts and capital equipment. It would be advantageous to have knowledge in one of the following areas; Plant Hire, MEP, HVAC, Construction, Civil Engineer, Logistics or similar. All these categories have live vacancies.

Key responsibilities:

  • Proactively manage vendor selection and manage performance
  • Commercial negotiation and order management
  • Strategic development along with strong commercial business acumen to create compelling category plans - balancing cost, quality and risks;
  • Assisting with bids
  • Proactively execute category plans using strategic sourcing methodology
  • Build and develop mutually beneficial relationships with your key suppliers to identify opportunities and ideas

About you

You will work autonomously to develop expert knowledge of the market, vendors and products available for your allocated category while working collaboratively with your team and other procurement teams across Laing O'Rourke, as well as supporting our internal Engineering Excellence, Design, Work Winning, DFMA and AMEP functions to realise the maximum level of value available from each category.
