As a Trainee Financial Accountant you will work within the Group finance team at Next and we are at the centre of all that is Finance at Next!

We have responsibility for the preparation of the group’s consolidated accounts, bringing together the results of the entire business while working closely with colleagues in treasury, pensions and tax.

Focussed and dynamic, you’ll have the opportunity to develop your knowledge within the team, working across the full financial reporting process, while receiving study support for your exams.

About the role:

You’ll begin your career at Next by taking responsibility for managing a range of transactions including the Group cash book,intercompany recharges, the Group balance sheet reconciliations and the payment runs.

With strong attention to detail your focus will be to ensure that information is promptly recorded and reconciled and assist with our month end reporting processes.

In a varied role you will have the opportunity to work through the full financial cycle and, during the Group’s year end, you will support the wider team with the consolidation process and the preparation of the Annual Report and Accounts.

Over time the role and breadth of work will provide you with opportunities to work across the full range of accounting, including payroll, budgeting and working on our employee share trust.

We will also provide you with time and costs to support you as you study for your professional accountancy qualification.

About you:

  • You are looking for a role that provides a great foundation for a career in accountancy and finance. You are keen to learn and invest in your own development both at work and through your professional accountancy qualification. You are organised and can manage and prioritise a wide range of tasks. A great communicator, you will build excellent relationships with key stakeholders across our Brand and Group finance teams. You have excellent attention to detail and the ability to deliver accurate work within challenging deadlines. Professional and discreet when dealing with confidential and sensitive information.

Technical skills/business skills required:

  • Experienced user of Microsoft Excel Highly numerate
