What is the purpose of this role? We are the Street Lighting PFI Service Provider for Wakefield Metropolitan District Council and have recently commenced a large project to retrofit low energy LED lighting to help Wakefield meet their pledge to become a carbon neutral organisation by 2038. The main purpose of this role is to undertake electrical works associated with the LED upgrade project. This will involve the removal of the existing luminaires and replacement with new LED luminaires, cabling, and a Central Management System (CMS). The Electrician will also be responsible for testing and commissioning the new LED and CMS. From time to time you will also be required to undertake street lighting maintenance work to ensure we keep the lights on and meet the contractual requirements of the PFI Performance Standards. You will also be required to undertake the installation and removal of all illuminated equipment on the highway network, including street lighting, illuminated signs and feeder pillars this includes all associated wiring. What will this role involve? * Working in a team of two with responsibility for one * Install all new electrical equipment conforming to HEA and IEE 18th Edition wiring regulations * Install electrical equipment and undertake electrical inspection tests * Record test results using hand held tablet * Commissioning of new lighting columns/bollards/lit signs * Maintenance of highway electrical equipment * Take part in out of hours standby services on a planned basis * Other maintenance tasks as required * Provide support to other Amey contracts where necessary * Responsibility for the security of plant, tools and materials; the safe use of vehicles and the wearing of all PPE * Be Responsible for own health and safety and that of the public * Play your part in the achievement of team performance targets * The work is carried out outdoors hence you will be working in an environment of varying weather conditions and temperatures * The post holder will attend all training deemed appropriate, which may require occasional overnight stays, and will be expected to attend regular tool box talks. What are we looking for? * Experienced working with electrical installations within the public realm & highways * Must be able to work outdoors in challenging weather conditions * Driving Licence (C/C1 Driving Licence desirable but not essential) * Relevant CSCS / ECS Card * City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation * City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Inspection and Testing * Experienced and certified with the use and operation of MEWPS up to 12m * Experienced and competent with STHIL saws & other Power Tools * Able to undertake manual works including cable pulling and digging by hand * Able to produce electronic reports / site diary of works undertaken Why Amey?
