We are looking for a new DevOps Team Leader to join the HR Systems team.

Managing a team with a range of skill sets that apply to infrastructure, databases, and programming languages.

You will support a growing department that looks after HR systems and environments.

The key responsibilities of the team are the automation of application builds and releases via Azure DevOps, environment management, management of vulnerabilities across our estate and operational support and monitoring of production.

Role

-Drive the DevOps principles across the department.
-Planning and prioritizing the workload of the team adopting an agile approach.
-Oversee all aspects of project delivery from a DevOps perspective including requirements gathering, planning and delivery.
-Stakeholder management across the business functions to gather, scope requirements and give project status updates.
-Budgeting and costing of all new infrastructure requirements
-Weekly project updates to senior management
-Assist Support Manager with creation of DevOps Road map

People

-In addition to the technical role, you will have line-management responsibility for a team of engineers.
-Lead, coach and develop a team of 4 engineers.
-Conduct regular 1-2-1’s and performance reviews.
-Identify training requirements and enhance career development.
 

Criteria
Understanding of DevOps principles and technologies
Knowledge of systems development lifecycles and source control technologies
Technical competence in computer skills including Microsoft and Google suite applications.
Understand Agile methodologies
Strong communication skills: both verbal and written with the ability to interpret and explain technical issues to non-technical people.
Have the aptitude and self-motivation to develop your own skills and knowledge within the team environment.
Confidence in working under pressure to tight deadlines.
Proven track record of project delivery and adaptability.
Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and allocate the appropriate level of resource/support.
Focused on continuous improvement of services offered by the team.
 

Desirable
Experience of using Microsoft Azure DevOps
Experience of on premise to cloud offering migrations.
Experience of using containerization technologies.
Line management
Background in development
Good problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Experience using HR systems in particular oracle HSM
