Job description

You will work closely on a small, dynamic team where the role is to manage all commercial activities across the Information Technology Directorate. Supporting the development on behalf of the Head of Strategy & Governance the IT commercial strategy, policies and governance. The role holder will provide management to the wider commercial team actively seeking to build their financial capability.

We are looking for someone who has an aptitude for numbers, to provide high-quality analysis of financial budgeting and forecasting data, helping to show versatility in regards to the variety of tasks you will undertake.
 

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Tracking forecasting, actuals and variance across the directorate
• Supporting Information Technology project teams to meet financial objectives and commitments
• Working with the Financial Business Partner and Deputy Finance Business Partner ensuring alignment to central and departmental requirements
• Supporting the development and implementation of the Information Technology Commercial financial plan
• Supporting the development of and maintaining IT financial policies, processes and procedures

About You

You will have experience in Finance with excellent numerical, analytical and logical problem-solving skills and pay great attention to detail to ensure information is accurate and consistent. You will have excellent communication skills, both oral and in writing, with the ability to adapt your delivery to suit a wide variety of audiences, maximising both impact and understanding.

Having effective Microsoft Excel skills at an intermediate level you will be able to navigate and understand sets of data including lookups and manipulation of multiple workbooks and worksheets.

You are someone who gains rapport quickly with others as you build effective working relationships with both your colleagues and stakeholders. There will be a lot of interaction with a range of different stakeholders, senior management and colleagues across the organisation. We will look to you to confidentially handle these interactions, using your strong stakeholder management skills to engage with a diverse range of people, understanding the need for discretion at the appropriate times.

Additional Information

Part qualified CCAB or equivalent or willingness to undertake professional training, or able to demonstrate skill set through experience.

• Working in a Financial environment
• Gathering, analysing and interpreting data
• Managing collation of information from different stakeholders/business areas, particularly relating to managing a budget, tracking financial performance, monitoring accuracy
• Financial management, checking planned expenditure against budget bids, monitoring accuracy of the spend, ensuring compliance with financial policy and procedures, challenging spend when appropriate
• Building and managing effective working relationships with key stakeholders

Interviews are likely to be held week commencing Monday 16th August 2021.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
