School Location: Craigmount High School

Address: Craigs Road, Edinburgh, EH12 8NH

Salary: £9.50 per hour

Contract: Permanent (Term Time) 38 weeks per year

Hours: x1 Position 16 Hours x1 Position 22 hours

**X2 POSITIONS AVAILABLE ( 16 HOUR AND 22 HOUR PER WEEK)


The organisation provides the Catering service for the School meals to all pupil across the Edinburgh Estate. Duties consist of assisting the chef with the preparing of the nutritionally analysed menu each day and includes the preparation of light snacks and refreshments. This is very much a hands-on role which is required to ensure that the kitchen and service areas are kept clean and tidy and are aligned to the industry standards to ensure staff always follow strict hygiene practices.

What will your day look like?

You will be working in the fast-paced environment, ensuring the day to day running of the kitchen and service area is outstanding in a team to provide catering services in a safe and hygienic environment.

  • Food preparation
  • Serve food throughout the lunch service
  • Ensure that all dishes and equipment are washed daily
  • Clean down work surfaces / kitchen areas daily
  • Management and Removal of all waste
  • Clean dining hall after lunch service
  • Sweep/mop floors
  • Receive/storage of deliveries and put these away
  • Follow and adhere to hygiene regulations in line with the principles of HACCP
  • Any other associated tasks to perform this role.

What do you need to be successful in this role?

    • Catering experience desirable but not essential
  • Highly organised, responsible, efficient and excellent attention to detail
  • Strong customer services skills, friendly, approachable with a positive work ethic
  • Welcome the opportunity to learn and support others
  • Ability to recognise, with training, the importance of Food Hygiene and Health & Safety Food Hygiene L2
