National Day Nurseries Association (NDNA) is an award winning national charity and membership association, representing children’s day nurseries as the voice of the sector across the UK. We provide information, training and support, so they can provide the best possible early education and care to young children. We work with senior civil servants and politicians at a local, regional and national level to lobby and influence policy in early years and childcare. Under the leadership of our existing Chair, Sarah Carr OBE, NDNA has grown in size and reach to be the only early years organisation representing members across all four nations of the UK.

This is a critical time for early education and childcare providers, who are essential to our national educational infrastructure and local economies. The charity is ambitious about its future plans for growth and expansion in a challenging environment. We continuously strive to expand our support and services to nurseries and their workforce.

Our current Chair Sarah Carr OBE, who has provided excellent direction to NDNA is stepping down after a long association with the charity. We are looking for a new Chair of the Board of Trustees who is an experienced and exceptional business leader in the childcare sector with an understanding of the pressures our members face in the early years. The role will work in partnership with the CEO, Vice Chair and the Board of Trustees, in driving the charity’s mission and vision. The Chair will be an ambassador for the charity at events and with key stakeholders.

The role is a voluntary position for a five-year term and the time commitment will amount to around a day per month, including regular board meetings (some at our head office and some remotely via Zoom). We support trustees with expenses for travel to meetings and childcare costs, if required. If you feel that you have the relevant skills and expertise and are interested in a leadership position within a dynamic organisation in a vital sector we would love to hear from you.

If you would like to request an information pack or arrange an informal discussion about the role with our CEO Purnima Tanuku OBE, this can be arranged.

The closing date for applications is Monday 23rd August.
