Family Support Practitioner
We are looking for a dynamic, forward thinking and experienced family support practitioner who is passionate about specialist palliative care to join a Family Support Team at Leckhampton Court Hospice
Position: Family Support Practitioner
Location: Leckhampton, Cheltenham, GL53 0QJ
Hours: 37.5 hours per week - we will consider less hours on a job share basis
Salary: £12.95 - £14.18 Per hour, plus enhancements, continuation of your NHS pension.
Contract: Permanent
About the role:
There has never been a more important time to provide high quality, specialist end-of-life care to support patients and their families. As a Family Support Practitioner you will provide level 3 (NICE Guidance 2004) psychological services for patients and their families which address pre-bereavement and post bereavement needs. You will complete a psycho-social assessment for patients and their family/carer including children to identify social strengths, needs, and goals. You will work in close partnership with the clinical teams within the hospice and other organisations.
About you:
The successful Family Support Practitioner will have evidence of post qualifying counselling experience in a health or social care service. They will have experience of multidisciplinary working and an understanding of end of life issues.
Essential requirements for the post:
- Experience of Teaching and training staff and volunteers
- Creating and facilitating carers/bereavement groups
- An understanding of supporting children whose parents have terminal illness or are facing death, linking with wider appropriate services.
- Registration with the regulatory bodies is mandatory: BACP / UKCP
