Job description

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) are currently in search of a new Commercial Business Partner to support their Commercial Director in all commercial activity and financial matters relating to the UK Ship Register.

This is a fantastic time to be joining the MCA during a period of rapid transition, within a highly ambitious and motivated leadership team. Following a strategic review, The UK Ship Register (UKSR) has recently merged into the Directorate of UK Maritime Services (UKMS) to form a new customer-centric organisation. Following a period of uncertainty linked to the UK's decision to leave the EU, the UK Flag is now in a position to accelerate growth by adopting a customer-centric mindset and building a high-performing commercially astute team.
 

Responsibilities

Roles Responsibilities include (but not limited to):

• Providing direct support to the Commercial Director of UKSR in respect of all commercial activity and financial matters.
• Providing high quality analysis of Flag performance and customer activity data to support the development of commercial strategies.
• Providing oversight of all financial management with the department.
• Being first point of contact for all finance enquiries relating to the UK flag.
• Providing challenge to the budgeting and forecasting of information supplied by teams within UKSR.
• Supporting UKMS Finance Business Partner in ensuring MCA meets if financial objectives within the wider MCA business plan.

About You 

To thrive in this role, you will possess a strong knowledge of commercial activities, fees regulations and fees statutory instrument (SI). You will be competent in managing budgets, coupled with proven experience forecasting requirements and undertaking future financial planning.

We would love to hear from individual’s adept at identifying and analysing trends and cost drivers, combined with the ability and confidence to work alongside Directors and Senior Managers. The latter will be exemplified by the possession of first-class verbal, written and presentational communication qualities.

• Able to identify and analyse trends and cost drivers - detailed knowledge with more experience (level 3 definition above)
• Confident in working alongside Directors and Senior Managers

Interviews/assessments are likely to be held from 29th September 2021.

The Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is an executive agency of the United Kingdom working to prevent the loss of lives at sea and is responsible for implementing British and international maritime law and safety policy. It is also responsible for land based search and rescue helicopter operations from 2015.
