About Amey

We are looking for Commercial Manager (Senior QS) to join our Highways business division as the result of a recent exciting contract award for maintenance works on Area 12. Amey have been selected as the successful main contractor to deliver highways maintenance and improvement services across the Area 12 region alongside Highways England.

Our 'One Team' approach with Highways England was implemented in June 2021, continuing for 8 years with a total value of £180m under an NEC4 contract. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced Commercial Manager (Senior QS) to join our growing business in Yorkshire & Humberside.

You will be based at the office in West Cowick (near Leeds, off M62) and the working model is 4 days office based and 1 day at home.

What does the role involve

As a Commercial Manager (Senior QS) at Amey you will be responsible for the end to end commercial process for the Area 12 contract. Working closely with Highways England you will support the handover from the contract predecessors, and launch the Amey / Highways England 'One Team' project in 2021. Going forwards you will:

  • Develop the commercial team
  • Manage and maintain our relationship with Highways England and subcontractors
  • Manage payments
  • Submit variations and early warnings
  • Produce monthly reports and CVRs
  • Input into the monthly HE reporting cycle
  • Input into budgets, forecasting and monthly reconciliations.

You may also be required to schedule in works using our SAP system

.

Experience

This exciting, hands on opportunity requires a strong Commercial Manager with a QS background, ideally from within the Highways industry. The successful applicant should also have a relevant degree, qualification or chartership; or a demonstrable appetite to work towards one of these.

Our collaborative approach with Highways England requires the management of an individual whose values are aligned with those of Amey and Highways England; who can establish and hone effective working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. This role may focus on data handling and systems usage at least during the implementation of the new contract, so would suit a proactive individual who is willing to be hands on with the contract detail.
