Abianda is a small not for profit organisation with 15-20 members of staff, offering one-to-one, group work and employment opportunities to gang-affected young women. We also offer training and support to professionals so they can work more confidently and effectively with young women. Our unique model of practice aims to address the barriers that stop young women seeking help.

We are looking for an inspirational leader to join our Senior Management team. The key elements of the role include; spearheading external systems change, embedding our participatory and equality principles in every layer of the organisation and holding the designated Lead Safeguarding Officer role for Abianda. The role also involves managing a small team of Senior Practitioners and/or Operational Leads who focus specifically on systems change and contextual safeguarding.

You will have;

  • extensive safeguarding experience with robust legislative knowledge in child protection,
  • the ability to manage a multi-faceted day,
  • work well in a team,
  • strong understanding of participatory practice, and
  • a commitment to Abianda’s principles.

This is a full-time role, provisionally for 12 months, with the hope of extending the contract subject to funding. You will be expected to work from the Abianda office on certain days, but some working from home and flexible working provisions can be arranged.
