Systems Engineer

 

Are you a Systems Engineer who is looking for a role to work with the latest tech within the Radar sector? We currently have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer which can be based at Gt Baddow, Cowes or Broad Oak.

 

As a Systems Engineer, you will undertake design and design maintenance tasks with a strong aspect of various elements of system modelling in respect of both new products and technology insertion into legacy products.

 

This role will provide you an opportunity to work with new tech and put this into existing products, you will have the ability to develop your own skills in a challenging area and over time others and the opportunity to eventually build a team, you will be joining a community of systems engineers and you will cover all areas of MS and will be actively involved as a core member of the team. Over time you could develop into a system design authority or engineering manager.

 

 

Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer will involve:

 

Design aspects of radar systems, to include overall radar performance prediction, design of pulse patterns, selection of various signal processing techniques, estimate of radar loss budget.

 

Model and run simulations of radar performance in a variety of environmental conditions.

 

Usage of model and simulators to analyse and interpret real world to identify issues and improvements in radar systems.

 

Be able to trade off principal radar parameters in order to understand design constraints and limitations.

 

Assess system performance against requirements.

 

Direct the development of high-level algorithmic activity.

 

 

Your skills and qualifications:

 

Degree in Engineering or Numerate subject (technology, engineering or science related discipline).

 

Experience of using Matlab or equivalent programming paradigms.

 

Experience of Mathematical modelling / simulation for performance predictions or systems analysis purposes.

 

Knowledge of Simulink would be advantageous.

 

Depth and Breadth of general knowledge across the engineering lifecycle in particular:

 

  • Concepts & Demonstrations
  • Systems Requirements
  • System Design
  • Test, Integration and Acceptance
  • Through-life support & sustainability
  • Awareness of some of the following is desirable:

     

  • Model based systems engineering techniques
  • technology development trends for example those found under the banner of "Industry 4.0"
  • cyber security implications, vulnerabilities and precautionary measures
  • industry-wide systems engineering processes such as ISO 15288, SEBoK etc.
  • various development methodologies such as Waterfall and Agile
  • Experience in use of DOORS

You will need to have strong communication skills, presentation skills, problem solving skills, task leadership and team contribution experience, with high levels of energy and self-motivation.

 

You will be able to undertake technical guidance of others.
