Job description

We work with groups within IT Services to ensure that our services are delivered effectively and efficiently and according to agreed service levels, measures and processes.

As an EUC Engineer you will work in a multi skilled team based environment and must be able to work well as part of a team. The engineer has responsibility for providing IT support to customers/contractors, must be adaptable, work using their own initiative and possess good problem solving skills. Aspects of the role include, but are not limited to, Deskside support, Install, Moves and Changes to End User devices, Build Lab Engineering and IT Stores asset management.

Qualifications aren't essential for this role, however you must be willing to work towards ITIL V3 Foundation qualification.
 

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Taking ownership for listening to and understanding the customer’s problem. Escalating and/or gaining support where necessary to resolve the problem. Using relevant information to diagnose and to resolve or enable resolution in line with agreed service levels.
• Meeting user needs in relation to End User Devices and have the technical understanding of a variety of products in order to match the needs of users to a range of appropriate devices.
• Working closely with Service Asset and Configuration Management to support the reuse and disposal of assets in line with the agreed processes and policies.
• Ensuring you are fully aware of and comply with DVLA policies as outlined in Staff Handbook e.g. Data Protection, physical and document security and health & safety policies.

About You

You will have a basic understanding of computer system software and hardware which after the relevant, required training this will result in you being able to confidently give sound advice and providing effective resolutions to problems.

You will understand the importance of working as a team and can prove to be a valid team member, as well as working under your own initiative.

With strong communication skills, you will have the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. You can deliver information in a clear, confident, professional manner, sometimes relaying complex information to others on a regular basis.

Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for this role as there will be a lot of face to face contact with our customers and we will expect you to build trusting relationships quickly.

Selection process details

This vacancy is using Success Profiles, and will assess your Behaviours, Strengths, Experience and Technical skills.

We are closely monitoring the situation regarding the coronavirus, and will be following central Government advice as it is issued. There is therefore a risk that recruitment to this post may be subject to change at short notice. In addition, where appropriate, you may be invited to attend a video interview.

The sift is due to take place on Tuesday 5th & Wednesday 6th October 2021.

Interviews will be held week commencing Monday 18th October 2021.

This interview will be conducted via a video interview, details of which will be provided to you should you be selected for interview.

We will try to meet the dates set out in the advert. There may be occasions when these dates will change. You will be provided with sufficient notice of the confirmed dates.

How to Apply

You will be asked to submit two 250 word behavioural statements for Communicating and Influencing and Working together.

Should a large number of applications be received, an initial sift may be conducted using the lead behaviour, Working Together. Candidates who pass the initial sift may be progressed to a full sift, or progressed straight to interview.

You will also need to provide a CV detailing relevant employment history, which will help demonstrate and support your suitability for the role.

You will need to complete the Previous Skills/Experience part of the CV, providing detailed evidence of the following:

• Your experience and use of using Windows 7 and 10
• Your experience and knowledge of PC Hardware
• Your experience of stock control management and/or stock control processes

If invited to interview, this may consist of a range of question types. These could include questions around behaviours and how you would respond in any situation as well as specific examples of things you have done.
