About the role

As a Security Officer, you’ll be part of the team our customers rely on to deliver a safe and secure experience in the airport. Determined to provide an exceptional standard of customer service, you’ll welcome every passenger you meet in a friendly way. Your positive, can-do attitude will help put them at ease as they complete their security checks, giving them an airport experience that enables them to look back positively on their time at Heathrow. You’ll need to be vigilant and ready to identify potential risks and threats.  Expect to spend time on your feet patrolling the terminal, conducting safety checks on our passengers and your colleagues, and monitoring access to secure areas.

What we look for

Being a Security Officer at Heathrow Airport doesn’t require previous experience in security. You’ll get all the training you’ll need from a full-time course with us, which includes both classroom and on-the-job training. The skills and traits we look for in all our Security Officers include:

• A positive and friendly approach with customers
• Great attention to detail
• Fluency in written and spoken English – additional languages are a bonus
• Physical fitness to cope with long periods of standing, sitting, bending and walking
• Full colour vision and a required standard of hearing too

It’s also important that you’ve been a UK resident for at least three years, and that you’re prepared to undergo a pre-employment vetting period lasting at least 15 weeks. This will include Medical, Criminal Record and Counter Terrorism checks.
