About the job
Are you looking for a role in which the legal work you do really matters?

Does a rewarding career with a progressive, high-tech business, excite you?

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified legal professional to join Roche Diagnostics, one of the world’s leading health suppliers in in-vitro Diagnostics. At Roche our aim is to improve the health, quality of life and well-being of people around the world by providing an innovative range of diagnostic solutions and medicines.

Reporting to the Director of Legal and Compliance, you will form an integral part of a small team providing a professional, comprehensive and effective legal service in support of the businesses of Roche Diagnostics and Roche Diabetes Care in the UK & Ireland.

You will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations. You will also be required to negotiate, draft, review and finalise a broad range of commercial contracts. Solid commercial contracts experience is therefore essential to be considered for this role.

In addition, you will be providing day to day advice to the business on a variety of commercial matters including indirect procurement, supply chain, technology and digital health, advertising and marketing, consumer law, data privacy, social media, competition and public procurement law. This position is based at our Head Office in Burgess Hill (West Sussex), south of London and 20 minutes South from Gatwick Airport.

Who you are

You are looking for your next step in your career following a successful post qualification experience gained either “in-house” or in a reputable law firm.

You will be a solicitor with significant relevant experience qualified in England and Wales.  You will have an excellent working knowledge of commercial law and the ability to advise and negotiate on a wide range of commercial issues. Experience of digital health and the healthcare industry and/or public procurement law and competition law will be advantageous but not essential.

You will have strong technical and communication skills coupled with a positive attitude and an ability to work autonomously and in an agile environment, as well as the ability to work within a small and proactive team to address new challenges.  In your work you will take initiative and you will display a high level of objectivity, integrity, motivation, professionalism and trustworthiness, and a focus on doing business with ethics and integrity.

This position will offer exposure to all of the Company’s operating businesses. Therefore you must be able to triage workflow, set priorities, and demonstrate internal/external stakeholder engagement skills in order to make a positive, professional impact in a highly complex cross-functional environment.

Investing in you

Roche is a company that not only invests in its business – over £6.5 billion in R&D worldwide, including £460 million in the UK alone last year – but equally importantly in its people.

What this means for you is, not only a competitive salary and excellent benefits package, but also a genuine interest in your development and progression.
