If so, we have an exciting opportunity for a Purchase to Pay Finance Assistant to join our team at the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA), and we would love to hear from you!

Job description

Here at the Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) we are looking for a Purchase to Pay Finance Assistant to work within the Finance & Audit Directorate. In this department no two days are the same and we will look to you to assist with a cross-section of finance tasks in the Agency's retained finance function and in particular support the Finance Operations Compliance Manager and, as needed, the Senior Finance Business Partner.

Through this diverse role you will ensure that all P2P (Purchase to Pay) transactions are processed in accordance with the MCA's policies, procedures and controls. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the MCA and support the work of the regions and other business areas whilst liaising with Shared Services as necessary.

Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

· Ensuring compliance with MCA, Shared Services Arvato (SSa) & HMRC policies and procedures
· Overseeing & supporting the business units with all aspects of the P2P module, liaising with SSa where necessary
· Helping to ensure project accounting costs are captured for Survey income, Learning & Development costs plus any other projects as directed
· Supporting the Finance Operations Compliance Manager with systems issues relating to P2P
· Assisting with workflow on any supplier refunds as necessary
· Helping with the monitoring & reconciliation of individual supplier accounts working with the MCA regions and SSa

About You:

To thrive in this role, it is essential that you have an in-depth working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, being able to confidently and comfortably use its varying features i.e. formulas, data sorting, conditional formatting etc.

You will be an excellent communicator a range of stakeholders, including internal, external and non-financial and will have great customer service as one of your core values.

You will be someone who is thorough with their work and has exceptional attention to detail as accuracy is a key part of this role. You will also have a proactive approach to problem solving with a passion for identifying and resolving issues.

You would be described as a diligent person, happy to concentrate on your work and do a thorough job even when under pressure and can carry out your duties with minimum supervision.

You will thrive managing a varied and challenging workload and can adapt to the changing priorities of the role as you will be expected to complete ad-hoc tasks when required. You will be able to work equally well on your own as in a team.

Experience in a Finance role and a working knowledge of an accounting system is essential for this role.
