Job Description

Primary Role Purpose:

The Digital User Experience is a key initiative at Inmarsat aiming to continuously improve and simplify how users interact with Inmarsat’s digital products and services. It prescribes the build of consistent, intuitive, easy to use web applications optimising user experience across our software solutions.

We are looking for a front-end developer to join our product development team. You will work alongside UX designer, back-end developers and product manager building client-side web applications to support the delivery of our customer's needs. You will bridge the gap between UI design and technical implementation taking an active role in defining how the application looks as well as how it works. Ideally, you should be able to demonstrate hands on experience in using current trends and best practices in front end architecture including performance, security, and usability. You are likely to have a self-driven, conscientious approach with commitment to producing high quality digital products. Your role will also require enhancements to some full stack applications from time to time that form part of the team’s product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop modern, accessible and highly responsive web applications
  • Translate requirements from UX designs and wireframes, utilising high quality standards
  • Develop unit tested, user facing features using Typescript and Angular 9+
  • Build reusable components and front-end libraries for future use
  • Optimise the application for maximum performance and scalability
  • Conduct peer code reviews
  • Assist with issue investigation and resolution
  • Provide effective sizing of effort for future projects
  • Collaborate with internal team members and product stakeholders to deliver solutions

Qualifications

Essential Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline
  • Commercial web development experience
  • Experience building applications with modern frontend frameworks such as Angular, ReactJS, VueJS
  • Proven ability to build Enterprise level Single Page applications using REST based APIs
  • Experience with Angular 9+ and Typescript is strongly desirable
  • Previous experience of full stack development
  • Experience using complex REST APIs
  • Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, AWS CloudFront and S3
  • Ability to work independently, with limited supervision while participating fully as a member of the delivery team
  • Working in an Agile-based environment

Desirable Experience and Skills:

  • Experience in at least one server-side scripting language such as Python, JAVA, NodeJS
  • Unit Test framework such as Jasmine/Jest/Karma
  • Behaviour Driven Test framework such as Cypress
  • SASS, LESS, Bootstrap
  • Understanding of cross browser compatibility issues
  • Continuous Integration/ Continuous Delivery tools such as Jenkins, SonarQube,
  • Redux
  • Knowledge of secure software coding practice
  • Jira and Confluence
  • Comfortable working in an augmented environment with 3rd party vendors
