Support Worker

Are you looking to gain experience in care at a reputable and diverse organisation? We are looking for proactive, reliable, resilient and passionate Support Workers with a ‘can do’ attitude to work in a Learning Disabilities project; Patrick Court in Burton Latimer.

Patrick Court provides supported living for adults with learning disabilities, ASD, Personality Disorders and/or complex needs. The accommodation is specifically identified for service users that are part of the Transforming Care agenda. There are seven self-contained properties on site including three bungalows and four flats the service users are supported by a large, experienced and friendly team.

Salary: £19,568 per annum pro rata for part time (£10.14 per hour) plus enhancements for night working

Hours: Up to 37 hrs; full time and part time hours available

About the role:

As a Support Worker no two days will be the same! Support could be anything from painting, administering medication, watching a movie, reviewing and devising risk assessments, cooking, helping them access activities in the community, cleaning, personal care e.g. dressing, washing, shaving, going to the toilet. But, ultimately it must be the service user’s choice and you will assist them with their day to day needs. Although the role is challenging, it is highly rewarding at the same time because the little things you do every day have life-changing results for the people you support.

Please note that due to the needs of the customers, there may be an element of moving and handling involved in the role; as such, you will need to be willing and able to undertake these duties. Additionally, you must be comfortable to work with individuals who display challenging behaviour and/or have complex needs and you may be required to use restrictive physical intervention once suitably trained.

About you:

Don’t worry if you don’t have previous experience!

Full training will be provided to help you gain the skills needed to succeed in the role. As an added bonus, you will be paid to train and you will be allocated a buddy and identified mentor when you start the role!

Helping and caring for others must come naturally to you. You will be outgoing, values-led and motivated and will work as part of a team to help bring the best out of vulnerable people and keep them safe. An understanding of individuals that have a mental health diagnosis, personality disorder, Autism, eating disorders and complex needs is beneficial. If you are friendly, empathetic to service user needs, professional and willing to learn, we want to hear from you.

Flexibility is key as shift times will be reliant on the needs of the service users and cover Monday to Sunday including bank holidays and weekends. Core shift times are: 07.00-14.30 and 08.00-14.30 (early shifts), 14.30-20.00 and 14.30-22.00 (late shifts), 22.00-07.00 (waking night shift) 22.00-07.00 (sleep in shift). Where possible you will have at least one weekend of a month off.

There are various contracts available and welcome applicants that are looking for part-time or full-time opportunities.
