Reporting to the Housing Manager, you will carry out an all encompassing role, which will include:

* Collection of rent arrears and other housing related debts through early intervention with an emphasis on personal contact with tenants;

* Responsibility for the management and delivery of a comprehensive rent recovery service;

* Identifying where tenants may be experiencing difficulty in meeting payments, offering appropriate support and advice;

* Working pro-actively and contributing ideas to improve income maximisation for both the housing association and the tenants;

* Communicating with tenants politely, sensitively and courteously in writing, over the phone and in person;

* Negotiating repayment agreements with tenants, taking corrective action where agreements are not maintained;

* Preparing and submitting cases to the County Court if applicable;

* Assisting and advising tenants with Housing Benefit Claims;

* Close liaison with the Tenancy Manager in reviewing rent arrears procedures, making recommendations for improvements;

* Experience in a credit control / accounts receivable capacity;

* Competent with Excel and IT literate;

* Organised, with good admin skills;

* Whilst experience from the housing sector will prove advantageous, it's certainly not a pre-requisite. A closely related industry would be useful, e.g. property, charity or service sector;
