We have a fantastic opportunity for a Recruitment Specialist to join the Resourcing Team here at the House of Commons, supporting us with day to day recruitment and contributing to the ongoing development of recruitment and onboarding processes.

Each year we recruit c.800 candidates for a mixture of internal and external vacancies across multiple disciplines. As well as recruitment the Resourcing team also facilitate internal movement such as secondments, redeployments and carry out required pre-employment checks which makes this an interesting and fast paced environment where no two days are the same.

The Recruitment Specialist is responsible for managing recruitment campaigns for a variety of areas/seniorities at the House of Commons, providing sound advice and recommendations around the most appropriate recruitment strategies and use of assessment and selection tools. With a strong focus on Diversity and Inclusion, they will work with the Employer Brand Lead and have support from our Media Buying Agency to identify strong attraction strategies, enabling us to reach a wide pool of relevant candidates. A key responsibility for this role will be to develop and maintain strong, meaningful relationships with key stakeholders both to deliver an excellent recruitment service for live campaigns but also to inform and contribute to discussions on the changing business area landscape.

The Person

To be successful in this role you will have the following skills/experience:

  • Experience of providing comprehensive advice on recruitment and selection activities, including delivering an exceptional candidate experience, with an understanding of relevant legislation and current best practice.
  • Excellent attention to detail, as well as experience of using an e-recruitment applicant tracking system (ATS) to manage recruitment campaigns and experience using social media platforms/ candidate attraction channels to optimise candidate engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain good working relationships with a broad range of people at different levels, with the ability to challenge and influence those stakeholders, including senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent written/verbal skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders and write job descriptions/copy that convey the key points of the role and appeal to the relevant candidates.
