Could you be the welcoming face of Southampton General's Main Entrance Reception desk?

Looking for a strong receptionist, who can multi-task and deal with a fast paced and busy reception area.

The University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust provides services to 1.9 million people living in Southampton and south Hampshire, while also providing specialist services such as neurosciences, cardiac services, and children's intensive care to the wider area.

The Trust is made up of 6 locations with Southampton General Hospital being the largest, running specialist services, emergency, and critical care along with outpatient clinics, diagnostic and treatment work, surgery, research, education and training. This is a large and busy site.

We have a new Part time placement available for a Receptionist at Southampton General Hospital (Tremona Road, Southampton, SO16 6YD) on the main Entrance reception desk.

The working hours are 17.5 hours a week across Monday - Friday with a rotating working pattern of 12.00 - 15.30 on week 1 and 15.30 - 19.00 on week 2.

They require the successful candidate on occasions to be flexibility to cover reception needs and this would involve swapping shift times and also helping to pick up other hours where needed.

This is a band 2, the pay rate is GBP9.89 an hour.

The duties will involve

Assisting on a very busy reception desk welcoming patients and the public to the hospital along with interacting with carers, relatives, other visitors and staff in person and by telephone
Access UHS systems to determine appointment times, clinic and patient locations for enquirers. In accordance with data protection guidelines.
Provide wayfinding information, help access health information via suitable websites and assist with concerns or use the Trust's complaints.
To print off and supply lost or mislaid patient appointment letters.
Be responsible for maintaining a clean, tidy reception area and action any cleaning or maintenance problems that are reported to them.
Ensure company representatives register before entering the hospital buildings and ensure that they wear a Trust Visitor badge
Help patients and visitors with disabilities, arrange taxis, access wards and departments by calling porters with wheelchairs and any other help or support required.
Provide help and support to bereaved relatives entering the trust by directing them to the Bereavement Care Office or accompanying them to the chapel of rest for viewing appointments.
Issue car park tickets for cross-site permit holders and concessionary parking vouchers to enable patient's families and visitors.
Maintain the five trust notice boards, being responsible for maintaining tidy and current boards. Authorise posters/leaflets for display; take money and display on appropriate boards. Issue receipts for money taken.
To complete Health Insurance forms (Simply Health) for inpatients and day case attendees on request.
To manage and book events via the main entrance bookings calendar , respond to requests in accordance with the Main Entrance booking Procedure and keep up to date records of events that have taken place.

They are looking for someone who

Ideally has previous receptionist experience within a busy and demanding environment
Can be on hand to help visitors when they are feeling anxious and sometimes when they are in distressed, angry and/or agitated conditions.
Is helpful and friendly, while communicating clearly and effectively, having a high level of customer service skills
Ideally has systems knowledge of hospital systems; CRIS, CAMIS, E-CAMIS, SYMPHONY, Porter ordering service, however can train.
Confident with Word, PowerPoint and Excel basic knowledge.
This role involves walking the hospital site, therefore you need to be comfortable moving around the site.
