About the role:
Location: Edinburgh and Halifax/Leeds also a potential: Can split time between home and office 2/3 days per week.
So what exactly would I be responsible for?
Lead a team of 10 direct reports, including full line management and development.
This role is unique in that it offers the opportunity to run one of the Business Management teams, directly supporting the Engineering team in Insurance & Wealth Transformation.
You'll challenge and advise the business to mitigate and control risks in accordance with the risk appetite, support and influence key senior individuals within the group, deputise for senior and executive colleagues and contribute to broader strategies, as well as giving input to business decision-making by providing insight, control and thought leadership.
Some day to day activities might include;
Supporting the delivery of cloud risk frameworks.
Risk management within the range of technology transformation & change initiatives.
Governance & supplier management frameworks.
Technology currency & resilience, helping to ensure our new (and legacy) systems are fit for purpose.
Input into compliance & governance policies & procedures.
Represent the business in industry forums.
Help balance long & short term business objectives with risk management.
What are we looking for from those who apply?
We like to see people who apply from diverse industry and personal backgrounds however there are is a set of minimum criteria which we need to see;
Prior experience in a similar role managing technology risk, compliance and technology 3rd party suppliers. Ideally this should be at a similar level of management, however we're happy to help develop your leadership and people management skills if ready to make the jump to a head of level position.
Strong risk management, governance and compliance knowledge specific to the technology industry.
Transformation or change management experience, specifically input into the management of risk within projects
Good people management skills both upwards to director level and downwards.
As this role is quite niche and combines the management of the Business Management team, it would be desirable, but not essential, to see the following;
Prior cloud supplier management experience
Knowledgeable of business management / operations team management
Insurance or general Financial Services experience
This role would be great if you would like;
a high level of director & executive level exposure
want to support the latest cloud and transformation technology programmes within Financial Services & Insurance
enjoy supporting the Engineering community
