The Product Origination & Onboarding Lab/team is seeking an experienced Scrum Master to join the Merchant Services Feature Team in addition to being a Lead for the Lab. Merchant Services is a truly exciting area that is strategically important for the bank, and you'll support the team in delivering best-in-class digital origination journeys.

The role will encourage understanding of Agile frameworks, Transformation Principles and Practices, and support colleagues to establish their ways of working, self-management and continuously improve in delivering change and value.

In Origination & Onboarding, a learning culture is important. We continuously strive to improve all colleague's knowledge and skills in the role. As Chapter Lead, you'll support and coach scrum masters within your chapter and across the lab as required.

Core purpose and responsibilities of the role:

  • Understand and utilise Agile frameworks (Scaling, Scrum, Kanban etc) and events (scrum of scrums, PI planning, retrospectives etc) to understand the value and purpose of them

  • Develop OKRs/product visions and roadmaps, lagging and leading measures and promoting teams in self organisation.

  • Clarify work items and question details of work to attain a DOR. Promote best practices in areas including refinement, prioritisation, stakeholder engagement and introducing tools and techniques.

  • Encourage and empower teams to self-manage, utilise feedback for continuous learning and improvement in efficient and incremental value delivery.

  • Measure and understand their performance through metrics (throughput, cycle time, happiness etc) and use this as the basis for their improvement activity.

  • Coach and support to identify blockers/barriers to effective delivery and remove these.

You'll also build out the Scrum Master community to enable the sharing of best practice and building capability and hold line management responsibility for a team of scrum masters, helping them achieve their best and providing other line management support as required.

What skills and experience we're looking for:

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Agile frameworks (such as Scrum, Kanban, Lean, SAFE, Nexus), and practical experience of working in a variety of Agile environments.

  • In-depth understanding and experience of change delivery lifecycles.

  • Extensive practical experience working with the Transformation principles and Practices (TP&Ps).

  • Knowledge and experience of other techniques that support Agile working such as Devops, System Thinking, Queueing Theory, Complex Adaptive systems, Theory of Constraints/Critical Chain.

  • Experience in promotion and role modelling of psychological safety and wellbeing.

  • Scrum Master Certification - PSM1 and PSM2.
