Science Laboratory Technician (Chemistry/Biology) part time from January 2022

We are seeking a Science Technician to provide technician services to the Science Department with a particular focus on Chemistry and Biology. The Science Department at Mayfield is dynamic, stimulating and high achieving, with nine well equipped laboratories. Chemistry and Biology are consistently some of the School's most successful subjects, regularly achieving outstanding results at both GCSE and A Level, and this success is only possible due to the fantastic support offered by our technician team.

The successful candidate would be responsible for preparing, maintaining and developing resources to support the teaching and promotion of Science throughout the school. In addition they will assist the other technicians to ensure a clean and safe working environment throughout the department. The candidate will work 23 hours per week (0.6) term time only, the division of days by negotiation, although there is flexibility in the number of hours for the right candidate.

Applicants should be flexible and hard working and enjoy collaborating with others. Candidates do not necessarily need to be an existing Technician, but should have some background science knowledge, having ideally at least a Science A level. A willingness to learn is essential and any training needs will be met for the suitable candidate.

Mayfield is a leading Catholic Independent boarding and day School for girls aged 11-18 situated in beautiful East Sussex countryside, less than 50 miles from London and 40 minutes from Gatwick. An international and inclusive community, the School has a tradition of academic achievement with impressive GCSE and A Level results, a vibrant and eclectic extra-curricular provision and an enviable reputation for pastoral care.

We offer excellent working conditions in an outstanding environment. Mayfield has its own salary scale and the salary package for this position will reflect the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.

The closing date for applications is: Monday 15 November 2021, although the School reserves the right to interview and appoint prior to this date.
