Job description

This post is an excellent opportunity to work alongside a wide stakeholder base to undertake high profile and challenging projects on which you will provide insight to ministers and other project leaders on important commercial issues. The Corporate Finance Advisory Team in the Department for Transport (DfT) is a well-established, highly skilled and widely respected team of Corporate Finance professionals which advises the Department on the feasibility and funding of some of the UK’s largest and most significant infrastructure projects, programmes and policy initiatives across the Department and its arm’s-length bodies. Our team use their commercial skills to shape ministerial policy, and focus on ensuring Value for Money for the tax payer. We are looking for up to two experienced corporate finance professionals to join our team, and help to shape exciting infrastructure projects that make a real difference to the public and the economy.
 

Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to

- Providing high quality corporate finance advice on projects and programmes across the department

- Working with members of the Corporate Finance Directorate and colleagues within the department to execute high value transactions

- Providing commercial insight into policy formulation and transaction structuring expertise

- Managing a changing portfolio of projects while delivering to tight deadlines, prioritise work and adapt your style to meet the differing needs of your clients

- Providing assurance on commercial issues in line with the department’s internal review and approval process

About you

Are you an experienced Corporate Finance Professional, with an ability to communicate complex issues clearly across all levels of a business? If so we would love to hear from you.

We’re looking for candidates with excellent commercial, financial, analytical and project management skills, who have experience of working with a wide and varying stakeholder base. The role suits someone that is confident applying their commercial expertise to influence decisions, thrives in managing a dynamic and challenging workload and welcomes autonomy to their role.

You’ll have strong interpersonal skills with the capability to provide guidance and information to inform decisions at all levels of government.

These roles are an amazing opportunity to work on high profile projects on a daily basis. Therefore, you will be highly diligent with a strong focus on attention to detail, to ensure your work informs senior leadership and Ministers in achieving departmental objectives.

Additional information

This role may involve some travel to attend meetings up to once a month dependant on business need. You will be provided with full notice if this does occur and this is not a mandatory requirement of the role.

Things you need to know Security

• Corporate and/or project finance;
• Regulatory finance;

• Insolvency and restructuring

For your Personal statement, please demonstrate the following criteria only:

• Your experience of working as part of a multidisciplinary team (e.g. working with/for legal, financial, technical advisors)
• Your experience of communicating complex information to senior stakeholders through summary papers or presentations
• Your experience of applying commercial expertise to set a direction, you should also include how this was used to influence decisions
• Your experience of managing dynamic and challenging workloads to meet tight deadlines
