The role

As Hairstylist /Barber you will conduct consultations in order to decide what type of services the client requires. Based at MOD Abbeywood, Bristol

Hairstylist - Provide hairdressing services ; on all hair types, shampooing and blow-dry styling, cutting, styling, colouring\ tinting and highlighting as desired.

Barber - Provide barbering services on all hair types to clients which include the ability to clipper a faded blend cut, scissor cuts on all hair types, hot towel shaves, facial hair design and maintenance.

Be able to follow instructions from your manager and clients/customers, ensuring the correct company policies and procedures are upheld at all times.

Present a professional, courteous and helpful approach, to deliver a high quality of customer service to the client and work as part of a team, making sure customer demands are met, minimalizing customer complaints ensuring SLA's are maintained to avoid a breach of contract.

Key accountabilities

Answer the telephone in a friendly and polite manner, make appointments by recording the full name and details of the client clearly.

Ensure appointment book is kept neat and tidy and contains information only relating to the salon.

• Maintain own equipment, including disinfecting clippers/ combs/ brushes etc, used after each client.
• Ensure there is fresh water in the sprays every day
• Ensure the customer is properly gowned, clean off access hair cut is completed
• Make full use of appointment time
• Ensure the floor is swept after haircut and hair waste is put in the bin
• Replenish clean towels regularly, tidy away equipment after use
• Keep sinks clean at all times
• Hairstylist - Wash tint bowls, brushes, butterfly clips, combs and trolley immediately after use to avoid any cross contamination
• At the end of the day, works stations, trolley, mirror and back mirrors must be cleaned. The electric must be turned off and water bottles emptied. The floors must be sweeps thoroughly and salon left in a clean condition
• High standards of appearance to be maintained at all time
• To carry out any additional task requested by the Salon Manager, to ensure the smooth running of the hair salon
• Ensure all equipment is checked before use, is fit for use, and that you are trained to use it
• Ensure health and safety requirements are followed as directed by management
• Comply with the extra security restrictions in place in some buildings
• Not to enter an area/ department out of your department ( the salon), unless under the instruction of the salon manager for the purpose of work only.

Skills & experience

Hairstylist - Hairdressing qualification NVQ Level 3 and or 5 years articled apprenticeship

Barber - 2 year articled apprenticeship and or NVQ level 2
